So much cheese.

I've been planning to take Hubby for a hike with Kicker, followed by a nice romantic picnic in the park. I'd bought wine, strawberries, grapes, tangelos, french bread, an assortment of cheeses, some mixed greens, and some crackers. I'd made lemonade, and had the picnic basket and blanket ready.

So, on Friday night, while talking with friends, no one was more surprised than I to hear me say, "We're going on a hike and picnic on Sunday - want to join us?"

But we had a blast. And while it wasn't what I planned, it may have been better.

We got to the El Dorado Nature Center around 11:30am. I got to try out my new BOB stroller! The 5 of us took a beautiful 2 mile hike, where we saw lots of turtles, butterflies, squirrels, bunnies, and bugs. It was great! We would have done another 2 mile loop, but our stomachs were growling.

We loaded back up into the car, and drove over to the picnic area. There we feasted! My friends brought strawberries, grapes, an assortment of cheeses, and water. Between the both picnic baskets, we had a Whole Foods selection of cheeses. We ate until we were stuffed! Heck, even Kicker got in on the action, gumming down a piece of french baguette!

What lazy weekend day is complete without a trip to Costco? We packed up the picnic baskets, and struggled not to go into a food coma while we rode over to Costco, where there were more goodies to be sampled. *groan*

Then we headed back to our friends' home, where we laughed and talked, and prepared moose burgers. Yep, moose. A while later, some more friends dropped by, and we fired up the grill for those burgers. We also grilled up some mooseroni - that's moose pepperoni. Burgers, mooseroni, roasted potatoes, pomegranate wine; all that adds up to one very stuffed Channah.

So, we sat around some more, chit-chatting. This was our friends' last weekend before their wedding. This Sunday, they're hitched! So we're all very glad they're choosing to spend this crazy hectic time before the wedding with us.

Someone insane, possibly me, mentions dessert. Out come strawberries, fresh whipped cream, madeline cookies, and homemade raspberry sorbet.

I'm still in a food coma from all this. And thank goodness I'm not the one who needs to fit into a wedding dress!
